چکیده

Germanium/carbon core–sheath nanostructures and junctions are produced when Ge nanowires are subject to a thermal treatment in an organic vapor doped vacuum. The organic molecules pyrolyze on the surface of the Ge nanowires and form a continuous graphitic coating. The carbon-sheathed Ge nanowires undergo melting and evaporation at high temperature, which results in the formation of germanium/carbon junctions. These core–sheath nanostructures and junctions generally have diameters of 5–100 nm, sheath thickness of 1–5 nm, and lengths up to several micrometers. This process may prove to be an effective approach to prevent the nanowire surface oxidation and create nanowires with chemically inert surface. © 2000 American Institute of Physics. @S0003-6951~00!01127-X#

Synthesis of Polypyrrole Coated SnO2-ZnO Electrospun Nanofibers via Vapor Phase Polymerization Method

This paper reports the synthesis of polypyrrole coated SnO2/ZnOelectrospunnanofibers via vapor phase polymerization method. In order to prepare one dimensional (SnO2- ZnO)/polypyrrole with the core sheath structure, first SnO2-ZnO composite nanofibers were synthesized via electrospinning method followed by adsorption of Fe 3+  on the surface of the SnO2-ZnO nanofibers and finally pyrrole w...

Novel C/Cu sheath/core nanostructures synthesized via low-temperature MOCVD.

C/Cu sheath/core nanocable arrays were mass-produced on various substructures, such as Si, SiO(2), Cu or glass, by using a one-step low-temperature metal-organic chemical vapor deposition. The novel nanostructures consist of a faceted Cu nanowire core with six side surfaces and four top surfaces, and a sheath of carbon. The as-synthesized nanocables are demonstrated excellent oxidization resist...

Laser-Assisted Growth of t-Te Nanotubes and their Controlled Photo-induced Unzipping to ultrathin core-Te/sheath-TeO2 Nanowires

One dimensional (1D) nanostructures of semiconducting oxides and elemental chalcogens culminate over the last decade in nanotechnology owing to their unique properties exploitable in several applications sectors. Whereas several synthetic strategies have been established for rational design of 1D materials using solution chemistry and high temperature evaporation methods, much less attention ha...

Preparation, Characterization and Sensitive Gas Sensing of Conductive Core-sheath TiO2-PEDOT Nanocables

Conductive core-sheath TiO(2)-PEDOT nanocables were prepared using electrospun TiO(2) nanofibers as template, followed by vapor phase polymerization of EDOT. Various techniques were employed to characterize the sample. The results reveal that the TiO(2) core has an average diameter of ∼78 nm while the PEDOT sheath has a uniform thickness of ∼6 nm. The as-prepared TiO(2)-PEDOT nanocables display...

NANO EXPRESS Hierarchical Cd4SiS6/SiO2 Heterostructure Nanowire Arrays

Novel hierarchical Cd4SiS6/SiO2 based heterostructure nanowire arrays were fabricated on silicon substrates by a one-step thermal evaporation of CdS powder. The as-grown products were characterized using scanning electron microscopy, X-ray diffraction, and transmission electron microscopy. Studies reveal that a typical hierarchical Cd4SiS6/SiO2 heterostructure nanowire is composed of a single c...
